His Holiness says genuine dedication would make life meaningful

Dharamshala, March 19 - A genuine sense of dedication would make one's life meaningful, His Holiness the Dalai Lama said this morning adding that such dedication, according to the Buddha's teachings, should be developed and cultivated through reasons.

"This is one of the important points which I usually tell to everyone", His Holiness said.

Addressing the packed Tsuglakhang for the long-life offering ceremony to His Holiness by Toepak and Ngari (regions of the U-tsang province of Tibet) associations, His Holiness said that earlier the Tibetans in Tibet were narrow-minded, but these days in exile the Tibetans receive education. And on that basis, the Tibetans have become more dutiful and dedicated.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama emphasised the importance of education for in-depth understanding of Buddhism. His Holiness advised Tibetans to consider paying attention to the pursuit of knowledge.

"There is a lot of difference between those who practice the teachings of the Buddha with understanding and education with those of the contrary", His Holiness said.

At the end His Holiness call for maintaining the commitment to the common faith that binds us.

Today's ceremony was led by His Eminence the Ling Rinpoche.

Last Saturday, Amdo association along with the Namgyal Monastery and Dagpo Monastery offered Tenshug (long-life offering) to His Holiness.

Similarly on 21 March, His Eminence the Sakya Trizin Rinpoche and Dhunpho Dakchen Rinpoche will offer Tenshug to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
