Kathmandu: May 08: Zodpa Namgyal, 33 years old is very much on his endurance
prostration course, started from his home town Amchok Tsenyi Monastery, Amdo
Ngaba to reach Tibet’s capital Lhasa before continuing his crawling journey to
Kathmandu.
Having reached Kathmandu, he is now on his way to the northern Indian town of
Dharamsala, the seat of the Dalai Lama in exile.
He began his prostration 15 days ago from Kathmandu and has now reached Mugling
in Chitwan District of Nepal after covering a distance of 115 kilometers. He is
still looking very much determined to carry on with his journey, but the road
winding before him is looking long.
With a peaceful smile on his face and gentleness in his prostration, for Zodpa
it is a holy journey more than a half already made.
There are numerous world records and this particular feat, prostrating and
measuring distance with his body-length, is worth an attention. Defying the law
of endurance and merely committing to such a task is simply unthinkable.
"I do this for World Peace and for Tibetan Cause" says Zodpa.
It took him over two years and two months to reach the Nepalese capital before
continuing his path to Dharamsala, which might take him another year to
complete.
All this he does by dragging along a heavy cart containing his food supplies
like tsampa and bedding and a small tent in which he sleeps at night.
Zodpa began his spiritual journey on February 3, 2005 from his monastery.
