Ministry Plans Educational Conferences in Cities to be Visited by Dalai Lama |

Interserve USA is preparing for the upcoming visit of the Dalai Lama with conferences aimed at informing participants how to appropriately and effectively witness the gospel to Buddhists and Americans enamored with or influenced by the Eastern religion.
The Dalai Lama, the spiritual head of Tibetan Buddhism, will visit six cities American cities starting in April. Interserve will hold conferences in Berkley, Calif., Houston, Chicago, and Amherst, Mass., which are four of the cities the Dalai Lama will visit or near them. The Dalai Lama will also visit Maui, Hawaii, and Madison, Wis.
"Tibetan Buddhism is growing in the United States, and a great number of Americans are enamored with or influenced by this Eastern religion" said Doug VanBronkhorst, executive director of Interserve USA. "We intend to give people an understanding of that religion and inform them of the many differences and the few similarities between Buddhism and Christianity."
"Buddhists have a different worldview, so there's a lot to talk about and to learn in respect to evangelism," he added.
"We welcome the Dalai Lama here, but we also want to have a chance to reach Buddhists with the gospel," VanBronkhorst said.
