Dharamsala: His Holiness the Dalai Lama has considered giving a 3-day special
teaching, a first of its kind, here from June 1-3 to motivate especially young
Tibetans into learning Buddhism and have a better and deeper understanding of
it.
The teaching has been requested by Dharamsala Committee for Introductory
Buddhist Studies and will be held at Upper Tibetan Children’s Village School (UTCV),
Dharamsala.
The teaching is primarily reserved for young Tibetans; however no age-limit and
other requirements are set for it. The teaching will be open for Tibetan youths
from all walks of life and from anywhere but, prior registration is a must
wherein an interested attendant has to submit ones name with a brief bio-data.
The Dharamsala Committee for Introductory Buddhist Studies is a voluntary
committee formed a year ago and helps Tibetan youngsters to stay accustomed with
Buddha Dharma by arranging introductory Buddhist classes. The committee is
headed by Mr. Dawa Tsering, former local Tibetan welfare officer and currently a
member of Tibetan Assembly in exile.
“His Holiness has, in recent times, been very much concerned about young
Tibetans getting distanced from Tibetan Buddhist culture. So, this committee is
a called for one to formulate into action His Holiness’ concern”, says Mr. Dawa.
“And now we are very much blessed that His Holiness has actually considered
giving a 3-day special teaching for our Tibetan youngsters and young ones should
be able to take this precious opportunity to be in the presence of His
Holiness,” said Mr. Dawa
The committee also arranges regular introductory Buddhist classes for Tibetan
youths on Sundays.
