Solan (Himachal Pradesh), April 21 - Hordes of people turned out in Solan to attend a discourse on Buddhism, delivered by Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama.
Devotees said Buddhism offered solace from the daily problems that people faced.
"The sermons that Dalai Lama is delivering are on Buddhism. He said people in the European countries have a lot of money but have some or the other issue that make them uncomfortable. He said following true form of Buddhism could mitigate such problems. Devotees attending the sermons here have come from all across the country like Kinnaur, Dehradun, Delhi and Ludhiana," said Jeet Singh Negi, a resident.
A number of foreigners also attended the discourse.
"I am fascinated by it. Speaking of non-violent passion and such things," said Gunnar Stalsett, a foreigner. .
The Dalai Lama gave his discourse in Tibetan, which was translated to Hindi.
The Buddhist spiritual leader set up his seat of power in Dharamsala town after he and his followers fled to India in 1959, nine years after China occupied Tibet. |
